Is it hard on my Rockford amp if it goes into thermal protect mode?

I have a rockford P300.2 and was playing it for about two hours. It did feel very warm when my 10" Alpine Type R stopped. The amp's gain was only turned a third of the way up. The amp appears to be working fine after turning off the radio for about 15 minutes.
